What is "Content Analysis"?

  • Most generally, it is the systematic study of information symbols
    • written or spoken words
    • pictures or signs
  • Specifically, Klaus Krippendorf defines it as:
    • "a research technique for making replicable and valid inferences from texts (or data) to a context of their use."
    • That is, inferring meaning from information symbols.
